Week 5 Preview: Dallas Cowboys vs Green Bay Packers

Overall Series: 35 Games

Green Bay Packers: 18-17

Last Matchup: Green Bay Won 34-31

The Packers jumped out to a 21-3 lead in the last matchup between these teams in the 2017 playoffs. Their offense and defense was clicking in most of the first half. Dallas came back with a valiant effort to the the game late in the fourth quarter, and then eventually lost 34-41 in one of the most exciting playoff games in recent memory.

Keys for Green Bay:

  • Air it out
  • Stop the run
  • Utilize their weapons

The Packers are basically a one dimensional team if Ty Montgomery doesn’t play on Sunday. The Cowboys have a young and weak secondary which Rodgers should take complete advantage of. If Aaron is feeling good, expect a big game from Nelson, Cobb, and others. On defense, the Packers will really need to stop the run or they will be limited on there own offensive opportunities.

Keys for Dallas:

  • Run the football
  • Contain Rodgers
  • Force 3 and outs

What a tough but winnable matchup for the Cowboys. They will need to get Elliott established early and continue to utilize the ground game. Through 4 games, the Dallas Offensive line is a shell of itself and is still taking time to gel. Not establishing the run and putting the game in Prescott’s hands will spell defeat for Dallas. Not saying Prescott cannot win it, but he is still learning. Containing Rodgers and forcing 3 and outs is the biggest challenge here. Aaron is a great QB who, if get’s out of rhythm, can easily get back into the game. Dallas needs to keep the Packers at a low 3rd down percentage and they can win this game.

My Prediction: Dallas Loses 34-24

Team Record: 2-2

My Record: 2-2
