The Rivalry That Never Was

Dallas and Seattle do not have much of a history against one another. Early in league history, Seattle used to be an AFC team. Once realignment happened, they moved to the NFC. Since coming over to this side of football, Seattle has witnessed some of its biggest success as a franchise. Let’s take a look at some points in the history of the Cowboys and Seahawks.

  • Dallas won the first meeting of the series on Oct 3rd, 1976 with a score of 28-13
  • The Cowboys lead the series 10-5 all time
  • Tony Romo’s infamous first playoff game (the botched fg attempt)
    • This game caused Bill Parcells to retire from coaching the Cowboys
  • Emmitt Smith broke the All-Time League Rushing record against the Seahawks in 2002
  • On Monday night in 2004, the Seahawks and Cowboys battled in a shootout with Dallas winning 43-39
    • Dallas was down 10 points with under 3 mins remaining to come from behind and win the game
  • Dallas crushed Seattle 51-7 in their second ever meeting. This is the most lopsided victory in the series between the two teams
