Talk about Hate: Cowboys vs Eagles Rivalry

It’s simple, they hate us we hate them. We hate the fact that Buddy Ryan was out for blood in the infamous Bounty Bowls. They hate the fact that we are as prestigious as any franchise across the world. We own the head to head record, and they can safely say that they ended the Cowboys of the 90’s. Let’s take a quick look back at this colorful rivalry.

  • We lead the all time record against the Eagles 63-49.
  • The Eagles beat us in the first meeting ever 27-25.
  • Dallas beat the Eagles in the largest margin of victory between these two clubs 56-7.
  • In 1980, Philadelphia beat Dallas to advance to the Super Bowl. This is the infamous blue jersey game as the Eagles opted for Dallas to wear their perceived “cursed” jerseys.
  • During the Cowboys Super Bowl runs in the early/mid 90s, Dallas beat Philadelphia in 2 straight playoff matchup’s to advance and win 2 straight Super Bowls.
  • 1999, in my eyes is the end of the dynasty, Michael Irvin had a career ending injury in Philadelphia. The crowd cheered over the fact that Irvin was hurt, and even taunted Deion Sanders.
  • In 2008, the Eagles beat the Cowboys in a do or die like matchup in which the winner would go on into the playoffs.
  • 2013, both teams faced off for the Division title and a chance to make the playoffs. The Eagles barely won 24-22
  • During the 2011 season, the Cowboys beat the Eagles during the regular season and the playoffs. The playoff win marked the first win for Dallas since 1996 in post season play.
  • In 2000, the Eagles started the regular season with an onside kick against Dallas and recovered. This was one of the few times this had been witnessed so early in a matchup. Dallas was stomped on 41-14. The game is also known as the “Pickle Juice Game” and the worst opening day defeat for Dallas since 1963.
