Orlando Scandrick: Torn ACL & MCL, Out for the season

Word came in late last night and early this morning that Orlando Scandrick has a torn ACL & MCL, and will be out for the season. Many news outlets state that this was a big blow to the defense. I couldn’t agree more….. We are not in a better position without Scandrick and could be worse off. He was vital and our best corner for the past few seasons. The damage that occurred was to Scandrick’s right knee. The news from NFL.com states that his right knee buckled trying to tackle Lucky Whitehead. Then Lucky fell on Scandrick’s knee and this is what caused the damage.

Behind Scandrick we still have Brandon Carr and Mo Claiborne. Now I know Claiborne is coming off an injury and hasn’t performed as well as we wanted, but still as an insurance policy I’m ok with that. Brandon Carr has been a disappointment as well and had hand surgery recently. I cannot trust the coverage both sides provide but I am hopeful the front 7 does put some good pressure on opposing teams.¬†We have to also see what Byron Jones can do as an athletic monster. Jones who has been having a good camp injured himself running into, who else, Morris Claiborne. I do like having the feisty Danny McCray and Tyler Patmon, and maybe one of those two guys can cause some havoc. We might need to get a dress rehearsal sooner rather than later with this defense……
