You might be wondering what happened over the past couple of months in which I’ve stopped posting all together. There really hasn’t been an update Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or on the site. This hiatus is due to a couple of different factors. I want to also add a Merry Christmas to everyone. I really wish that you all had an awesome time with friends and family. I know my wife and I had a little scare during our Christmas day, but it all looks to be good now. Now, where have I been and why the stoppage in updates? Let me begin.
Multiple factors have contributed to my hiatus as of late from the variety of different social media outlets. My job ramped up even more due to the end of the year coming up. With this my responsibilities have become more than before which is good and bad. Also, our newborn is requiring more attention and after we are done getting him to bed, my wife and I are both exhausted. Our days are starting at 5 AM and ending at 10 PM. On top of this, we have some moments every night where the little guy wakes up due to his eczema. Personal reasons aside I know I could post a little something here or there, but I refrained.
My biggest reasoning for stepping back is because of our favorite football team. Now I know this is a site in where I try to cover some basketball and football as well, but I was just sick of the football play. This is my driver to write and update this site. So I decided to give myself a break after the game against the Titans. It was disgusting to see this team look to be wasting such good talent this season. I couldn’t believe how many times this season we heard about what was going to change, but then we saw the same old story play out. The Amari Cooper trade also didn’t help my expectations, although that was microscopic in terms of the whole situation. So this was it for me this season, I decided that it wasn’t worth my time to spend 3 hours of a day and be miserable.
Why should I allow myself misery, when I could spend that time with my family and son? Hence the hiatus. Now, I did watch from afar and I did watch parts of games. I watched a play here or there, and a quarter here or there. What I didn’t do is watch from start to finish. Due to me not watching full games, I didn’t want to cheat you guys in giving an analysis and critique on something I didn’t even watch. It wouldn’t have been fair to my readers to lie to them about what I believe the team should do. Especially when I wasn’t invested 100% in what was going on myself. The funny thing is that the Cowboys started winning football games. And as you know, us sports fans are superstitious. Not only did I stop watching from beginning to end, but now I couldn’t watch a whole game because guess what, they were winning.
Superstition is a huge component for people involved in sports. You can ask almost anyone and they have a quirky, wacky thing they believe in. Mine for this season was to stay away from a full Cowboys game. We not only took out division opponents in that time span, but we also beat the best team in the NFC. Eventually though luck ran out against the Colts and therefore I’m back to watching games again. I had a chance to watch most of the Cowboys game against the Buccaneers. Boy did I miss my team during this time span.
I will probably skip previewing and reviewing the Giants game this Sunday. Expect me to be active on Twitter though as I try to listen to the game on the radio or watch pieces of it here or there. What I cannot believe is that the Cowboys team that was giving such an up and down season is the NFC East Division Champs. What a year it has been for them.
