Luka Doncic – Indoor Mini Basketball Hoop (Product Review)

The holiday season is among us and there are some really cool gift options this year. One of those is the Luka Doncic – Indoor Mini Basketball Hoop. Check out my review of the product below.

The majority of basketball fans know that Luka has become an icon in a short period of time in the NBA. From game-winning shots to amazing assists, he has become a transcendent player. Today the product that I’m sharing with you not only is an ORIGINAL HOOPS OF LUKA DONCIC product, but a really awesome and fun item to have at home or in the office.

Packaging

I received my product quickly and it was shipped through Amazon.com. It was packaged well and had some weight to it for being an indoor basketball hoop. I would add more detail around packaging but Amazon usually hits it pretty well with quality. Plus the box that the hoop was in was well protected and looked to hold up nicely. Parts/Product

When unboxing the product, you learn quickly that you will have to assemble this mini hoop. Unlike the hoops that I would get as a kid which were more plastic and cardboard. The quality of the hoop itself is pretty top-notch. Not only does the backboard have a very stable feeling, but the hoop itself feels like it is made of very high-quality material. This immediately gave me a feeling of satisfaction with how sturdy it felt. Not only this, but you also get a very cool Doncic poster that has instructions on the back to guide you on how to put the hoop together.

Assembly

The instructions to assemble this product were very good. I really appreciated the visual with the text. It is a little difficult to get some of the parts screwed in together but not because of materials. I believe it was just because of how and where I was attempting to put this together. In my opinion, having the tools come as a part of the packaging was awesome. Because of this, you don’t have to run around trying to find a screwdriver or even something as simple as a needle for the air pump. I did notice that the pump felt kind of cheap but that was about it.

I would’ve provided a step by step assembly guide, but the instructions along with the images provided are sufficient enough. It isn’t as if we are putting together furniture here, it is just an indoor hoop. Nonetheless, do not be alarmed if you are making holes in the backboard, this is okay. I thought it was weird but I’m sure it was simpler to have a customer do this versus trying to align the holes in the manufacturing process.

One thing that did scare me is when I pumped the ball up with air, I accidentally pulled too hard on the air pump, breaking it. Fortunately, though it was easily repairable.

After you have put everything together, you can register the product and should. There are some cool opportunities to win some prizes from contests.

Functionality/Playability

Now that I had assembled the hoop and pumped up the ball, I was ready to give this a go. I went upstairs to my office and hung the hoop on the door. The hooks provided a nice soft foam padding that protected my door. But a huge issue when closing the door was that there was no padding on the outside, and more importantly, my door wouldn’t close. I didn’t know if this was a design flaw or if I put something together incorrectly. I then tried this on another door and noticed the same issue. When examining the door frame, I realized that the hoop was hitting the doorstop. I attempted to angle the hoop or push slightly to see if the door could close, but I did not have much luck.

Even though I ran into this issue, I still wanted to give the hoop a shot (no pun intended). So, I hung it up on a door and decided to take a few shots. The hoop was really fun to shoot on and it is a different experience when you are using a rubber ball with a realistic hoop. The problem though was that the rubber ball is a little heavy to be throwing up against a door. Secondly, the hoop, since it was not secured, would bounce from the impact of the ball and is sloped downward.

Overall, I do think that this is a fun product to have but you have to take some of the issues into consideration when making the purchase. Can you break up the monotony of the day with this product? Of course. Can you enjoy a game with your friends? Absolutely. Also, this is a good gift for under $50. Therefore, I do recommend this as a nice and affordable purchase for the holiday season, or for a basketball fan.

UPDATE: The company has provided a better pump and softer ball to address some of the mentioned issues. Another thing they stated was you could use the wrench to loosen the rim some to provide a little forgiveness if necessary. Don’t miss out on this excellent product.
