Doug McDermott Agrees to Deal with Indiana

The Mavericks lost a very important piece to the rebuild in McDermott this offseason. Not a solid starter but a heck of a role player, Doug could’ve been very big for this team off the bench. McDermott agreed to a 3-year deal with the Indiana Pacers for $22 million. Over his career Doug has been a 40% three point shooter. At the ripe age of 26-27 years old, if he can continue to work on his shooting and develop that skill set even more, then he could be a Kyle Korver like player. Dallas did want to keep McDermott but they couldn’t do anything free agency wise if they did. By withdrawing the qualifying offer, the Mavericks did allow themselves the cap space for a big free agent, but they also opened up the risk of losing Doug.
