Dallas Mavericks Eliminated in 1st Round by Houston Rockets

The Dallas Mavericks were eliminated by the Houston Rockets in the First Round of the 2015 NBA Playoffs last night. Both sides played hard and the game was sloppy from the start. A difference in the game was the fact that Houston was able to knock down shots, and Dallas basically had lulls in their offense for lengthy periods of time. The Dwight Howard and Tyson Chandler battle down low was great for those who love classic physical basketball. Al-Farouq Aminu played with awesome energy and was a thrill to watch on both ends of the court. Houston was in foul trouble in the 3rd quarter and almost lost their lead. Headed into the 4th and with half the quarter gone by, the Mavericks just couldn’t get any shots. Early on Dirk struggled as well from the field and that hurt the Mavericks early. The hack-a-Dwight/Smith/Etc. just didn’t prove to be effective that much, but did slow the pace down for Dallas to get some plays for offense. Monta Ellis played well but had some costly turnovers in crucial moments. Barea was electric but had a little too much dribbling going on, and James Harden continued to get many calls on the offensive end. We as Maverick fans appreciate what the team gave us in effort this year and hope that we can rebuild in a good way.

After the 4-1 series loss, Dallas has a lot of questions that will need to be answered. I fear though that a lot of the decision making is out of their hands. Players like Rondo, Ellis, Chandler, Stoudemire, and more have player options or expired contracts. Chandler Parsons could be going in for knee surgery and that could pose a concern. I will cover the Dallas Mavericks salary situation later on in the next few months.
