If you have been watching the NFL in 2018 and are a Cowboys fan than you have noticed something very concerning. That concerning thing can be our coaching, defense, offense, management, or special teams. Within those areas you face even more scrutiny at position whether coach, manager, player, etc.

What is astonishing to me is that the eye test (my favorite test) is showing us signs of an aging quarterback and a young quarterback. Both are playing below average at best. Both are probably the reason why their teams are losing. And both are being blamed for a lot of the problems and it could be rightfully so. Today what I wanted to take a look at is Eli Manning’s production versus Dak Prescott’s. Both quarterbacks are struggling but which one is actually better when you look at the numbers. WARNING: Cowboys fans you will not like what you see.
PRESCOTT vs MANNING
The above table gives you a good look of the quarterbacks as of week 5 of the 2018 NFL season. Eli is a better quarterback in basically every single category. Manning has 400+ more yards, a better rating, more completions, and a better completion %. On top of that, Manning has thrown less interceptions, more touchdowns, and is averaging more yards per pass attempt compared to Prescott.
These are just raw numbers. You can argue that Manning has also thrown 43 more attempts than Prescott. If you believe with Prescott’s average of 6.7 yards per pass attempt that he could be better in something, then lets do the math. An additional 43 attempts multiplied by Dak’s 6.7 gives him an additional 291 yards. This still puts him at almost 200 yards less than Eli Manning up to this point. He also might have more touchdowns and interceptions, but he would for sure have less completions and a lower rating.
You want to know whats sad about the Cowboys passing game. Ezekiel Elliott is the leading receiver for the team and he has less than 25 receptions. When your leading receiver is your leading rusher that is a problem. Elliott cannot do it all and the Cowboys should be concerned. Let’s put this in perspective, Beckham going into week 6 had 39 receptions. Beasley (17) and Elliott (22) combined for 39 so far…..
Well Prescott is winning games. The Cowboys are closer than you think. Eli is horrendous, his teams keep getting blown out… If you believe this and you believe that Eli’s one win on the year signifies how bad he is, then check this out. The Cowboys have won their games by a combined margin of +9. The Giants have won their one game by a margin of +5 points. The differential isn’t that big. Up to week 5, Dallas had lost by 8, 11, and 3. The giants had lost by 5, 7, 13, 2. Yep, Eli and the Giants are not too far off from the Cowboys.
Is there more? There might be, but honestly I don’t have much to compare unless I get my hands on film lol
