Well, the Cowboys showed up on Thursday night and capitalized on an ailing Washington offensive line. Back at .500 with 4 games remaining on there schedule, Dallas remains in the playoff hunt. What doesn’t look good is the teams that will be on the schedule. The Cowboys could be facing a 4th 8-8 season under coach Jason Garrett, and it’s starting to get a little tiring. Let’s take a look at the final 4 opponents left on the Cowboys schedule at this possibility.
New York Giants (2-9)
Oakland Raiders (5-6)
Seattle Seahawks (7-4)
Philadelphia Eagles (10-1)
*Opponent Records as of 12/2/2017
12/10 – At New York Giants (2-9)
We all know the Giants are a mess. Eli isn’t starting (and was treated really bad in my opinion) and they are missing several key players. The Giants might have figured out there tailback situation but the head coach is horrible, and tanking might be the best thing for this under performing team. Dallas should be able to stifle the Giants and Geno Smith. So we can potentially lock this one in as a W. 7-6
12/17 – At Oakland Raiders (5-6)
The Raiders…Back when Al Davis was alive this was a match up overshadowed by the owners more so than the players. Both teams have been inconsistent but the Raiders have really looked strange all year. Derek Carr seems to have regressed as well as Amari Cooper. I believe Lynch could do some damage and if he does this might be a hard fought game for the Cowboys. Heck former Cowboys player Jack Del Rio coaches the Raiders and could want some revenge (again). I think Dak and Co. continue the streak and win this one in a shoot out. 8-6
12/24 – Vs Seattle Seahawks (7-4)
The Legion of Boom is all but no more. Richard Sherman will not be playing and this will give the Cowboys some good opportunities to air it out. Seattle on the other hand seems to have found there own offense but still lacks a strong running game. Both teams are going to fight it out in a playoff like atmosphere for the final 2 spots. Russell Wilson is a stud and will lead his team to a victory against the young Dak Prescott. 8-7
12/31 – At Philadelphia Eagles (10-1)
Finally the Eagles. This one will be the key to being at .500 or above .500. Ajayi, newly extended Alshon, Ertz, Blount, Agholor, Wentz, man the offense is dangerous. I expect the Eagles to have a possession or two with there starters. This game will allow for the Cowboys to get to a record above .500 and miss the playoffs. Maybe we don’t see 8-8 again for the 4th time under Garrett… 9-7
The Cowboys could string together another winning streak as they face two teams that have been about as up and down as Dallas themselves. So if the team sits at 8-6 with the playoff hungry Seahawks, then we could potentially be seeing a regular season game that will have a playoff feel. It will be tough to see Dallas win this. Finally the team faces off against the Eagles. This match up could be more significant for the Cowboys compared to the Eagles. If this is the case, then we could see the team go 9-7. If the game holds significance to the Eagles, then expect the team to drop to 8-8.
