A Backup Problem

The Dallas Cowboys face a huge issue at backup quarterback. The news is out that Michael Vick wants a chance to join the team. Vick has had a very interesting career and here are my two cents on him. He seems a little off the handle, and I prefer Tim Tebow’s leadership. With that said,┬álet’s take a look at our options for backup quarterback:

  • Jameill Showers
  • Dak Prescott
  • Johnny Manziell
  • Matt Flynn
  • TJ Yates
  • Charlie Whitehurst
  • Tarvaris Jackson
  • Josh Freeman
  • Jimmy Clausen
  • Ryan Lindley

So the top two names are already practicing with the team and could be good options down the road. When it comes to the rest of the list, the only guy I would seriously want is Matt Flynn. We all know the pro’s and con’s of having Flynn, but I feel he could be more dangerous as a backup than a starter. A lot of the other names haven’t shown consistency nor poise to play with the first team. We will see what Dallas pulls out of the hat for a back up. It will be imperative for them to find one with Romo’s potential injury concerns.
