2020 Schedule Release and Prediction

The 2020 Dallas Cowboys schedule has been released and boy does it look tough. We knew who our opponents were for a while but additional factors now come into play like date, time, and location. Let’s take a look at the team schedule and make some predictions along the way. Last year I didn’t get a chance to ring in some thoughts and have the opportunity this year, so let’s begin!

Week 1: 9/13 @ Los Angeles Rams (8:20 PM EST)

Well, the first game of the year is in Jerry’s collaborative back yard. For those of you who don’t know, he was involved in the construction of the new LA stadium. Not only that, but Roger thought it was a good idea to have the Cowboys face off in the first game of the year in that stadium. Not only is this a night game. I believe the new look Ram’s team without Gurley and Cooks are going to take time adjusting to their own offense. Plus with key player movement on the defensive side the Rams are going to struggle to find ground. Dallas should win this game easily.

Prediction: Win (1-0)

Week 2: 9/20 Atlanta Falcons (1:00 PM EST)

Speaking of Todd Gurley, he will face off against Dallas in week 2 with his new team. The Falcons could have themselves a bargain or not, but early on it will feel that way. By having a power back in the offense, this is going to be a different look Falcons team. I think they will be more potent and Calvin Ridley is going to shine. The Cowboys secondary might struggle against a veteran like Matty Ice but I believe Dallas pulls this game out.

Prediction: Win (2-0)

Week 3: 9/27 @ Seattle Seahawks (4:25 PM EST)

Russell Wilson versus Dak Prescott is going to be just darn fun. I think the Cowboys are going to have their work cut out for them against the Seahawks offense. Without Clowney potentially on the defensive side could spell good news for the Cowboys offense But going up against the 12th man in Seattle might be a little too much for the Cowboys. This game in my opinion will be similar to the loss against the Saints last year.

Prediction: Loss (2-1)

Week 4: 10/4 Cleveland Browns (1:00 PM EST)

Baker Mayfield, OBJ, Jarvis Landry, Chubb and a slew of offensive weapons will face off against a new look Cowboys defense. This one will be a lot of fun and if Dallas can get pressure on Baker then I see this becoming a one sided game. Another important note will be how Baker progressed from last year. If he doesn’t show much change then this goes to Dallas easily. Heck, even this early on I think the Cowboys are fortunate and take advantage of a young and developing Browns team.

Prediction: Win (3-1)

Week 5: 10/11 New York Giants (4:25 PM EST)

The Giants are going to be without Eli Manning for the first time in over a decade. Yes, the Cowboys did get a chance to see Barkley and Daniel Jones but with Jones entrenched as a starter it might be different. We could also see this as a revenge game for former Cowboys Head Coach Jason Garrett, I doubt it though. Dallas is going to put the lock down on the Giants offense and win this one easily.

Prediction: Win (4-1)

Week 6: 10/19 Arizona Cardinals (8:15 PM EST)

In their first meeting against Kyler Murray and a new look Cardinals offense, Dallas might struggle. Hopkins and Drake are very good if not top 10 players in their respective positions. Ole’ faithful Fitz is going to be back and the Cardinals know how to put up points. Not only are we getting a prime time matchup here, but we are going to get a high scoring shootout at AT&T stadium. This one is going to end bad for the Cowboys unfortunately.

Prediction: Loss (4-2)

Week 7: 10/25 @ Washington Redskins (1:00 PM EST)

Haskins versus Prescott should be an exciting matchup but the Redskins are the Redskins. Coach Rivera is going to find a way to make the game competitive but in a rebuilding year I expect Dallas to run the ball and control the clock in this one.

Prediction: Win (5-2)

Week 8: 11/1 @ Philadelphia Eagles (8:20 PM EST)

Oh yeah the matchup that we have been waiting for since the end of last year. They knocked us out of the playoffs and now getting a chance to face off in prime time is exactly what we need. This is going to be a good game, I expect physical play and some trash talk. Don’t expect Carson Wentz to ease up either. The NFC East is going to be won by one of these two teams and this game is going to unfortunately be won by the Eagles. Miles Sanders is going to run over the Cowboys and playing on the road for the second straight week will take a toll on the team.

Prediction: Loss (5-3)

Week 9: 11/8 Pittsburgh Steelers (4:25 PM EST)

Big Ben in maybe his last year is coming into town. The glory days of this 70’s rivalry will probably be re-lived some but the game might not have the same zest to it. Dallas should win this one as the Steelers are probably going to be in a weird place. We’ve seen the aging QB story recently so we might not even see Ben, but then again who knows. This home game is a good cure to a rough two weeks on the road plus it leads us into the bye week.

Prediction: Win (6-3)

Week 10: BYE

Week 11: 11/22 @ Minnesota Vikings (4:25 PM EST)

Another tough place to play in but this time I believe Coach McCarthy is going to have something extra for us to pull out the victory. Dallas will be seeing a potent offensive attack in Cousins, Thielen, and Cooks. But expect our team to win this one behind Cooper and Prescott. Also, the defense is going to have a field day getting to Cousins.

Prediction: Win (7-3)

Week 12: 11/26 Washington Redskins (4:30 PM EST)

Happy Thanksgiving! And boy will it be a happy one. Dallas is going to feast on the abysmal Redskins and push their record to 8-3 with this easy victory. Expect to see a lot of running in the second half so if you need to nap, this would be the best time lol.

Prediction: Win (8-3)

Week 13: 12/3 @ Baltimore Ravens (8:20 PM EST)

After a nice win streak following the bye week, the Cowboys are going to face a tough team in week 13. Lamar Jackson and company are going to run all over the Cowboys in this one. I don’t see the team stopping the option as the defense will get winded trying to figure out the Ravens offense. Look for Zeke to have a good game in this one but that would be about it

Prediction: Loss (8-4)

Week 14: @ Cincinnati Bengals (1:00 PM EST)

Not too far away from Baltimore will be a stop in Cincinnati. The Cowboys will play a rebuilding franchise behind a new quarterback. This could be a game where we might see a Dalton sighting as he was the starter for the Bengals for several seasons. I don’t expect much excitement beyond that and an easy victory after a tough defeat against Baltimore.

Prediction: Win (9-4)

Week 15: San Francisco 49ers (8:20 PM EST)

The defending NFC champs will be coming into town in this showdown. Historically both of these franchises have a combined 10+ Super Bowl appearances. Jimmy G and Prescott can be compared as quarterbacks but the 49er’s defense could be the difference maker. San Fran will probably play a ball control offense while trying to neutralize the Cowboys run game. I predict this to be a memorable game but unfortunately in favor of the opponent.

Prediction: Loss (9-5)

Week 16: Philadelphia Eagles (4:25 PM EST)

Ah, the traditional end of or near end of season game against a division rival. In what will most likely be an important game to determine the winner of the division, the Cowboys will finally be able to gain traction on the Eagles. I expect a tough and sloppy low scoring dance between the two teams. Wentz will be forced into a few mistakes and the Cowboys will capitalize big.

Prediction: Win (10-5)

Week 17: @ New York Giants (1:00 PM EST)

It will be the end of the season in New York after New Year’s. Dallas could be distracted or they could have already won the division. I think the Cowboys lose this game due to lack of focus or lack of need. Even though they lose, the team will wrap up a playoff berth after missing out last year.

Prediction: Loss (10-6)
