After a disastrous week 1, the Dallas Cowboys will have a prime time showdown against the division rival New York Giants. Not only are the Giants showing up after a close loss, but they are looking to build on some more positives in comparison to the Cowboys.

Home: Dallas Cowboys
Away: New York Giants
Game Time: 7:20 CST
Interesting Fact: The Giants have won the only playoff matchup between these two teams.
Last Meeting: December 10th, 2017. Dallas crushed the Giants in a very anticlimactic showdown in New York. The Cowboys won the game by scoring 20 points in the fourth quarter.
Matchup: So this game is going to be an epic game when you look at it historically. Why? Because of the Barkley vs Elliott matchup. I strongly believe that this matchup is going to be one that foreshadows a rebirth in this rivalry. Another thing to watch is going to be how both defense play.
What To Look For: Is this the bounce back game for Dak? Or will the Giants make the Cowboys quarterback take another step backwards in what could be a junior year slump? The Cowboys offense versus the Giants defense is going to be something to look for. Why? Because the Giants have done some trash talking that they will have to answer to. What’s more fun than watching that!?
Keys to Win:
- Establish Run: This is probably going to be an ongoing theme for the Cowboys this season. Once again it will be important for the team to establish the run. They didn’t do this last week in Carolina and I do not think they will be able to do it this week against the Giants.
- Contain Odell: Not only has Beckham stayed pretty quiet so far, but he was highly productive in week 1. It will be important for the Cowboys secondary to hold Beckham in check. If they do not then they will not only face a dangerous Eli at AT&T Stadium, but we will also face a tough running game piggybacking off of the passing game.
- Offensive Creativity: Something that everyone complained about last week is a huge key for me this week. The team needs to make sure that they get creative with the play calling. Creativity also means to me that they are able to move the ball. I believe a message was sent to Linehan and Garrett this past week. What I do not ever understand is why they show up for one half and flame out.
Prediction: Usually the Cowboys show very strong perseverance when faced with adversity. This is not the week that this will happen. The Cowboys will lose a close one but score a good amount of points. Even though the Cowboys will lose in my prediction 31-20, this is going to be the game that turns things around for the first half of the season.
